Hebrews Chapter 4

Verse 1
(ASV)
Let us fear therefore, lest haply, a promise being left of entering into his rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it.

(BBE)
Let us then, though we still have God's word that we may come into his rest, go in fear that some of you may be unable to do so.

(KJV )
Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

(My Notes)

Verse 2
(ASV)
For indeed we have had good tidings preached unto us, even as also they: but the word of hearing did not profit them, because it was not united by faith with them that heard.

(BBE)
And, truly, the good news came to us, even as it did to them; but the hearing of the word did them no good, because they were not united in faith with the true hearers.

(KJV )
For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Hebrews Chapter 3

Verse 1
(ASV)
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, [even] Jesus;

(BBE)
For this reason, holy brothers, marked out to have a part in heaven, give thought to Jesus the representative and high priest of our faith;

(KJV )
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

(My Notes)

Verse 2
(ASV)
who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also was Moses in all his house.

(BBE)
Who kept faith with God who gave him his place, even as Moses did in all his house.

(KJV )
Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.

Hebrews Chapter 2

Verse 1
(ASV)
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things that were heard, lest haply we drift away [from them].

(BBE)
For this reason there is the more need for us to give attention to the things which have come to our ears, for fear that by chance we might be slipping away.

(KJV )
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

(My Notes)
We need to be more conscious and thoughtful of the things that we have learned so that we can be closer to Jesus.

Verse 2
(ASV)
For if the word spoken through angels proved stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward;

My Daily Walk - June 1, 2010

Today, I have made a commitment to read my bible and comment on my readings each day.  I am starting in Hebrews.  My preacher blogged about it this morning and asked us to join him.  So - that is my starting point.  I know that I memorized something from Hebrews at some point but right now can't rightly recall what it was or why.

Hebrews Chapter 1

Verse 1
(ASV)
God, having of old time spoken unto the fathers in the prophets by divers portions and in divers manners,
